Yep! George W. doesn't seem to think so but, get a load of this:
"It now costs more than a penny to make a penny, which is made of zinc and copper. And the cost of a nickel is more than 7 and a-half cents.
Surging prices for copper, zinc and nickel have Congress trying to bring back the steel-made pennies of World War II, and maybe using steel for nickels, as well.
The House is moving toward a vote on a measure that would direct the secretary of the Treasury to suggest a new, more economical composition of the nickel and the penny.
The Treasury Department opposes the bill as "too prescriptive."
It's to something alright!

Answer - The quantifiable, objective facts say we are not currently in a recession:
================================
The Recession of 2008 That Wasn’t?
================================
I coulda sworn I commented on this!
You're right sbvor -- we're probably not technically in a recession. That's what republican brown nosers do ya know.
Get technical when it suits them.
No Darlene -- we're not in a recession because - as per protocol the republicans - are sufficiently trampling the backs of the poor, lower and middle classes.
Tina-cious,
Just remember, ever since 1980s "Reaganomics", recessions have been shorter & less severe & expansions have been longer & better. The proof is in the unemployment data.
If that is what you call “trampling the backs of the poor, lower and middle classes” then I suppose nothing will ever lift the veil from your eyes.
Regardless of what the politically correct word is, or how mal absorbed the above entry, it is still indicative of a country that appears to be back sliding rather than moving forward and that was the message I intended to put out there with this post.
Amen Darlene!
Oy -- talk about veils over someone's eyes.
Just IGNORE the fact that the middle-income through poor people of this country are suffering to pay their bills and that we are at historical levels for foreclosures.
BUT there are 5 less people unemployed so let's all rejoice in the streets.
Thanks for your informative comment.
I wonder if sbvor thinks we're in a recession YET...
Things that make you go hmmmm....
